Automatic stovetop fire suppressor Alerts with a 146dB sound upon releasing the smothering agent
StoveTop FireStop Microhood is specifically designed to suppress small grease fires on stovetops with microhoods (microwaves) overhead, which are found in a growing number of apartments.
- Uses technology similar to the original StoveTop FireStop, America’s leading automatic stovetop fire suppressor for over 30 years
- Suppresses small stovetop grease fires automatically when flames reach it (i.e., smoke or heat alone will not activate the device, preventing false activations)
- Features a sleek, low-profile design that is approved for use under microhoods 15–22 inches above the cooking surface (i.e., under microwave vent hoods that are lower than traditional vent hoods)
- Effectively releases non-toxic, fire-suppressing BC-type powder directly to the burner (each can contains 6.6 ounces x 2 cans per unit x 2 units per stove)
- Dispenses powder by gravity—no pressurized spray that could splatter
- Alerts the resident that the device has activated by emitting a loud “pop”
- Saves lives and prevents significant fire damage or water sprinkler damage
- Costs less than 4¢ per day per stove
- Requires no maintenance, inspection, or re-certification in the five-year lifetime
- Certified to the UL 1254 standard by Wyle Laboratories, an independent national research testing laboratory
Williams-Pyro, Inc. Announces New Fire Suppression Product
Fort Worth, TX—September 1, 2006--Williams-Pyro, Inc. is pleased to announce the newest product in our fire suppression family: StoveTop FireStop Microhood. StoveTop FireStop Microhood contains the same scientifically formulated fire suppressing powder as the original StoveTop FireStop®, America’s leading automatic stovetop fire suppressor for over thirty years. However, this new product is specifically designed to put out small stovetop grease fires with microhoods (microwaves) overhead.
The StoveTop FireStop Microhood was created in response to the requests of property management companies. The increasing installment of microhoods over stovetops has created a demand for an affordable fire suppression product designed to suppress stovetop grease fires from a microhood distance, which is closer to the range top than traditional vent hoods. This new product has the capabilities of satisfying the needs of this growing trend. Stovetop fires are the number one cause of home fires and a leading cause of fire-related deaths and injuries, according to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). A 2005 NFPA study shows that a residential fire occurs every 77 seconds in the U.S., with approximately 301,500 fires occurring in one-and two-family dwellings and over 94,000 fires occurring in apartments each year. The dollar value of damage caused by residential kitchen fires in the U.S. exceeds $500 million every year.
